Is it just me or do other secretaries get the feeling they're not so much wearing the dictation headphones but are harnessed to them like some fetish pony that aurally feeds off the unevenly spaced and incoherent analogue ramblings of lawyers?

Oh so it's just me then.

While wearing them I sometimes forget they're on and so when I reach down to grab a file or to lean across and look up a phone number from an outdated phone list I am yanked back by the ears and reminded in an irritating way that I am attached to that little black box on the desk.
