Hats off to me

so much for temping…somehow I became enmeshed in permanent part-time work which is a surprising ending for what initially began as a 4 month temping contract but given that this job is currently playing two major roles in my life – paying my rent and funding my possibly regretful career as an independent theatre producer – I can’t really shove it as I would dearly love to do.
I have, since last I released virtual vitriol, moved departments. In a company that takes up 10 floors and two buildings, moving departments is akin to changing jobs. I work two days a week in Department A and one day a fortnight in Department B. I am currently in Department A and it is much like a temp job in that there is not much work to do, no one really gets my name right and I can surf the net seemingly all day and not get pulled up for it. At least casual Fridays exist here, although I am the only staff member that wears a hat to work. The more corporate-minded cubicle rats look askance and probably disapprove of me expressing my individuality in such an obvious way – little do they know it has nothing to do with personality and everything to do with the fact that I just couldn’t be bothered brushing my hair this morning and so I covered it instead.
